Alumni Council Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded annually by the Alumni Council Scholarship Committee. Recipients are selected at the discretion of the Committee in consultation with the Office of Student Aid and Finance.
Applications for the 2023-24 academic year are currently being accepted and must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27th.
General Alumni Council Scholarships for students entering their senior year:
Established by the Stonehill College Alumni Council. Awarded annually to needy and academically qualified students in their third year. Recipients are selected at the discretion of the Alumni Council in consultation with the Director of Student Aid and Finance.
Established by the Stonehill College Class of 1970. Awarded annually to a rising senior who is academically in good standing and demonstrates financial need. Factors for award consideration could be a first-generation college student, a legacy (child/grandchild) of a member of the Class of 1970, a student who has financially contributed to his own college education or is involved in college activities. Recipients are selected by the Alumni Council Scholarship Selection Committee.
Established in 2001 through the generosity of friends and colleagues of Linda A. and Francis X. ’70 Dillon in recognition of their lifelong dedication to Stonehill College. Awarded annually to academically qualified students with demonstrated financial need. Recipients selected by the Alumni Council Scholarship Selection Committee.
Established by 1953 graduate and Boston Red Sox Executive Consultant for Community Relations and Special Events Lou Gorman and his wife Mary Lou, this scholarship is awarded to a third-year student to be applied to his/her senior tuition. Recipients will be selected based on their academic excellence, financial need and overall involvement in the life of the College.
Established in 2011 by generous benefactors of the College, John and Cheryl Noblin. Academically qualified and financially needy recipient(s) will be chosen by the Alumni Council.
Established in memory of Paul K. O’Leary in 1994 by Neil O’Leary ’61 and awarded through the Alumni Council Scholarship Committee. Awarded annually to a financially needy and academically talented student entering the fourth year.
Established by the Alumni Association in memory of Brassil Fitzgerald, professor of English at Stonehill College from its foundation until his death in 1962. Awarded as a half-tuition scholarship, each to two students entering their fourth year. Awarded at the discretion of the Alumni Council, in consultation with the Director of Student Financial Assistance, who will select students in need of financial assistance with ability to do outstanding academic work.
Scholarships for students of any year who are graduates of Oliver Ames High School:
Established in 2001. Awarded annually by the Stonehill College Alumni Council, in consultation with the Gomes family, to deserving students with financial need, strong academic standing and involvement with student activities. Preference is given to graduates of Oliver Ames High School.
Scholarship for education majors entering their junior year:
Established in memory of John C. Kent ’76. This $25,000 scholarship will be awarded to a rising junior who aspires to follow in John’s footsteps and join the teaching profession. Financial need will not be considered in the selection process, which may be renewable for senior year at the discretion of the Committee.
