Sinead M. Walsh
Lecturer and Lab Instructor, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Organic Chemistry Lab Co-Ordinator
Biography
Dr. Sinead Walsh received her B.S. in Chemistry in 1993 from University College, Dublin in Ireland. She then earned her Ph.D. also at University College, Dublin where she worked under the guidance of Dr. Rory A. More O’Ferrall. Her research investigated the catalysis of tautomerization of heterocyclic ketones, and E to Z isomerisation equilibria for enaminone tautomers. She also studied the use of induced deuterium shifts as a method to distinguish between enol and enaminone tautomers by C-13 NMR.
Dr. Walsh then joined Bristol-Myers Squibb as a process development chemist and was involved in the development and scale-up of various active pharmaceutical ingredients including a novel anti-HIV protease inhibitor, working in Ireland and Puerto Rico. In 2000 she joined Rhodia ChiRex in Boston, where she performed process development and optimization services for pharmaceutical clients. Dr. Walsh joined the faculty at Stonehill College as an adjunct professor in 2010 and became a full-time assistant professor in 2020.
