Post-Graduate Awards for Graduate Studies and Professional Programs
The following are lists of nationally prestigious and competitive fellowships, scholarships and awards available for seniors who are intending to apply or have been accepted to graduate school. It also includes several programs that offer professional experiences. It is important to be aware of any deadlines and due dates of application materials, as they may occur well in advance of the start date of the award.

Anthony Ellis Post-Graduation Fellowship

The English department is pleased to announce a call for proposals for the launch of the Anthony Ellis Post-Graduation Fellowship (in honor of Dr. Anthony Ellis, ’89). The fellowship will provide a stipend of $1,200.00 and institutional support to assist the Ellis Fellow in launching his/her post-graduation experience.
Carnegie Junior Fellowship Program

Carnegie Junior Fellowships are awarded to ten uniquely qualified graduating seniors. Carnegie junior fellows work as international relations research assistants to the endowment's senior associates. They have the opportunity to conduct research for books, co-author journal articles and policy papers, participate in meetings with high-level officials, contribute to congressional testimony, and organize briefings attended by scholars, journalists, and government officials. Applicants may choose 1 of 10-12 programs or research topics. Carnegie Junior Fellowships are paid, full-time positions for one year.
James Madison Fellowship

The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation offers up to $24,000 in Graduate Fellowships to individuals seeking to become teachers of the American Constitution at the secondary school level (grades 7–12). Applicants compete against other applicants from the state of their legal residence. Generally, one Fellowship per state is awarded each year.
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship

The National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) helps ensure the vitality of science and engineering in the U.S. and reinforces its diversity. The program supports graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions. The NSF welcomes applications from all qualified students and strongly encourages under-represented populations, including women, under-represented racial and ethnic minorities, and persons with disabilities, to apply for this fellowship.
Donald M. Payne International Development Graduate Fellowship

The Payne Program is designed to attract outstanding young people to careers in international development as USAID Foreign Service Officers. The Payne Fellowship Program provides benefits valued at up to $90,000 over two years toward a two-year master's degree, arranges internships in Washington D.C. and at USAID missions overseas, and provides professional development and support activities. Fellows who successfully complete the program become USAID Foreign Service Officers. The program encourages applications from members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the USAID Foreign Service and those with financial need.
Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship

The Pickering Fellowship helps talented students who want to pursue a Foreign Service career in the U.S. Department of State. Pickering fellows have a contractual obligation to work as a Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State for a minimum of five years following the completion of your Fellowship program. The Pickering Graduate Fellowships provide up to $37,500 annually for academic expenses and include two paid State Department summer internships (domestic and abroad), as well as professional development through workshops and informational seminars and mentoring by U.S. Foreign Service Officers.
Soros Fellowship for New Americans

Each year, the Soros Fellowship for New Americans supports the graduate educations of 30 New Americans (permanent residents or naturalized citizens if born abroad; otherwise children of naturalized citizen parents). Each fellow receives tuition and living expenses of up to $90,000 over two academic years. Fellows can study in any U.S. degree-granting program in any field at any university. Each fellow attends two weekend conferences. The great majority of fellows continue to be involved with the program through regional dinners, service in the selection process for later classes, etc.
