How to Become an ABS Leader
All Advocates for a Brighter Stonehill applicants must submit the following in order to have a complete application:
- Full name
- Major
- Cumulative G.P.A.
- Previous Work Experience
- Previous Involvement/Volunteer Experience
- For first-year students, you may include items from high school
- NOTE: All applicants are strongly encouraged to have their resume reviewed at the Career Development Center before applying.
Either an official or unofficial transcript is fine for submission. Students can access their transcript through myHill.
In place of a cover letter, each applicant will be asked to write short answer responses to the following questions below:
Questions for New Applicants Only
- Why do you want to be part of the ABS program? What do you hope to gain from the ABS program?
- How will you use the knowledge gained from being an ABS Leader both at Stonehill and in your community?
- What does "social justice" personally mean to you?
- How does your identity and experiences contribute to the ABS Leadership group?
- Anything else you would like to add for your consideration?
Questions for Returning Applicants Only
- In what ways has the ABS program helped you to grow, mature, develop, and feel empowered in equity and inclusion.
- Please share with us the relationship(s) you created with your little sibling(s) or other incoming students.
- What have you experienced to be the strengths and challenges of the ABS Leadership Program?
- If selected to be an ABS leader again, what will be your personal commitments to remain engaged in the program.
- Anything else you would like to add for your consideration?
ABS Coordinator Position (for Returning Applicants Only)
ABS Coordinators will assume additional responsibilities beyond those of an ABS Leader. ABS Coordinators will play an integral role in planning Spring and Summer training, the Intercultural Experience Program, and other community trainings and events. Coordinators are expected to be in touch with other coordinators and Intercultural Affairs staff throughout the summer and the semester. Coordinators can expect to spend about 1-2 hours a week planning and prepping for ABS related activities.
Returning applicants who are interested in serving as coordinator, must write an additional short-answer response to the following: Please indicate why you want to be an ABS Coordinator for the upcoming year, and what characteristics and qualifications make you a good choice.
All applicants must complete an interview in order to be considered.
