Tuition and Funding
Students who are approved to study or intern abroad through the Office of International Programs are billed by Stonehill for current tuition and Stonehill standard-double room and board (if applicable). Stonehill, in turn, will pay the abroad program provider for the tuition and housing costs for the program.
• Students are billed for regular Stonehill tuition and Stonehill housing but not billed for a meal plan (unless the program includes meals.)
- Students are responsible for their own meals.
- Generally, the financial aid award does not change with participation in the internship program.
- Additional costs include round-trip airfare, student visa fees (if applicable) and weekend travel, gym member
In nearly all instances your financial aid status remains the same, just as if you were living on campus. There are a few exceptions to the transfer of aid policy and students are strongly encouraged to contact the office of Student Financial Assistance for complete details.
To commit to your abroad program, a deposit to the provider will be made on your behalf by Stonehill. You begin this process in the Office of International Programs.
Submit the completed deposit request form, along with your program acceptance letter, to the International Programs office. The College will then remit your non-refundable deposit to your program provider.
Tuition and Double Room and Board
For this type of fee, your bill will reflect:
- Current Stonehill tuition
- Room and Board
Meals
Unless your program includes a meal plan, you will be responsible for paying food costs directly to your study abroad provider or purchase food at local vendors as appropriate for your program.
Note: This option is the most common for students.
Study Abroad Fee
An abroad fee of $1000 will be charged to students who choose to study away during the 2023-2024 academic year.
Additional costs vary by program and location. Students are responsible for contacting their program provider regarding specific supplemental fees and surcharges associated with their program. Additional fees include but are not limited to:
- Non-refundable program application fee and housing security deposit
- Fees associated with applying for a passport, student visa, permit of stay, registration with the local police, immigration fees, etc.
- Transportation costs including round-trip airfare from the US, all in-country transportation costs and personal travel expenses
- Supplemental housing fees including single room requests, telephone or internet access, housekeeping services and cost of laundry.
- Additional course/lab fees: Certain lab fees and course excursion costs are not included in your program cost (For example, any Food and Wine course and excursion fees in Italy). Please contact your program provider for information on specific course and lab surcharges.
- Required books for courses and additional library fees
- Cell phones and wireless internet fees
- Gym memberships and student activity/extracurricular fees
- Not all excursion costs are covered by your program provider - contact your program provider for specific details.
Fees vary by program and location. All students are encouraged to contact their specific abroad program provider for the most accurate and up-to-date fees not covered by Stonehill College.
Students have the opportunity to apply for a variety of scholarships through their program provider or through several external scholarship programs.
