Mission

The Provost's Advisory Committee on Diversity (PACD) was formed in 2012 as a response, in part, to student calls for greater attention to questions of diversity and inclusion in the classroom.  The committee seeks to improve classroom climate across campus, increase the curriculum's engagement with the experiences and issues of underrepresented populations, and to build a more diverse faculty.

Committee Membership

The committee currently functions as a non-elected committee, and all members of the faculty are welcome to participate.  We typically meet monthly during the academic year.  Any faculty interested in joining the committee should contact Laura Scales.

The current membership of the committee is:

  • Matthew Borushko
  • Mark Kazarosian
  • Pamela Lombardi
  • Anne Mattina
  • Wanjiru Mbure
  • Irvin Pan
  • Margaret Pierce
  • Laura Scales (chair)
  • Anamika Twyman-Ghoshal

Past Work

HIRING RECOMMENDATIONS REPORT

Early in 2014 the Committee submitted to the Provost a report on "Improving Hiring and Retention of Underrepresented Faculty at Stonehill College."  The report summarized the College's past efforts to improve faculty hiring, assessed the current diversity of the faculty, and made recommendations to improve our efforts moving forward.  That summer, the Provost formally responded to the report and has since charged a number of individuals and ad hoc groups with implementing those recommendations.
