In addition, students complete coursework on Bayesian Statistics and Generalized Linear Models. Statistical software is used throughout the curriculum to prepare for the increasing technology demands in the field. The actuarial mathematics curriculum reflects the interdisciplinary nature of actuarial work and was developed in close cooperation with the Meehan School of Business. Students complete required courses in finance, economics and accounting taught by full-time business faculty.
Over the past year, there have been 4,008 job postings in New England that require an actuarial mathematics degree. And according to Burning Glass Technologies, the field is expected to grow by 18% in the Boston area and by nearly 23% nationwide.
