Internship Agreement For Employers
Thank you for agreeing to host a Stonehill College student(s) as an intern at your Organization. Hands on, practical experience is an important part of our students’ education, and we sincerely thank you for providing this opportunity. What follows are some basic expectations intended to ensure that the internship is a productive and safe experience for everyone involved. Educational experience. The student’s participation in the internship will complement the activities of the Organization and will be primarily educational in nature. Students are not deemed to be employees of the Organization, have no promise of employment in exchange for participating in the internship, will not be used in lieu of employees, and will be supervised by an employee of the Organization.
Student conduct. Either the Organization or the College may dismiss the student from the internship for poor performance or improper conduct. Students are expected to perform at high standards at all times and comply with all written policies and regulations of the appropriate department of the Organization.
Health and Safety. The Organization will provide a safe and healthy environment for the student, with special attention to the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the Organization agrees to:
- follow guidelines issued by the CDC, health and safety agencies, and the state in which the Organization operates;
- ensure that the student’s on-site work environment is clean;
- provide training and resources to ensure a safe on-site work environment, such as social distancing, face masks, hand sanitizer, and cleaning supplies; and
- to the extent feasible, allow the student to perform tasks remotely and ensure that the student has access to all necessary resources.
Shut Down. In the event the Organization is “shut down” due to a resurgence in COVID-19 or any other reason, the Organization will take reasonable measures to allow the student to complete the internship remotely, especially if the internship is for academic credit.
Liability and insurance. Each party shall be responsible for its and its agents’ negligence, actions and omissions. The College shall be responsible for liability arising from the acts and omissions of students. Each party will maintain adequate insurance to cover any liability arising from the acts and omissions of its employees and agents.
Miscellaneous. Nothing in this agreement modifies, impairs, destroys or otherwise affects any common law or statutory right to indemnity or contribution that the parties may have against each other. This agreement constitutes the entire understanding of the parties and any amendment must be in writing. Any disputes shall be governed by the laws of Massachusetts, excluding conflict of laws provisions, the courts of which state shall have jurisdiction over its subject matter. If any portion of this agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms will continue to bind the parties.
Term. This agreement shall be effective as of the date listed below and shall remain in effect until one of the parties notifies the other in writing of termination. Any student who is currently participating in an internship with the Organization at the time notice is given shall be allowed to complete the internship.
Signature. By signing below, I represent and warrant that I have read this document, have had the opportunity to ask questions, am signing it freely, and am duly authorized to execute this agreement on behalf of the Organization.
