Stonehill's Master of Science (M.S.) in Data Analytics program ensures students gain the in-demand skills and knowledge necessary to analyze data and extract actionable information from complex data sets to support informed decision-making across a variety of industries.

The business analytics specialization prepares business professionals in marketing, finance, operations and management to use analytical thinking and data insights to inform strategy, drive data-driven decision making and improve business results.

Through this specialization, students will learn to:

  • apply analytical methods and business intelligence tools to evaluate business performance, risks and opportunities, and support strategic, financial and marketing decision-making
  • develop and communicate data-informed business strategies and recommendations 
    that clearly translate analytical insights into actionable decisions aligned with 
    organizational goals
  • apply analytics in business contexts with a strong emphasis on governance, ethical 
    considerations and the responsible use of data in organizational decision-making

All data analytics master’s students are required to take five core courses as well as five specialization courses to complete their program. For the business analytics specialization, courses such as Financial Management & Modeling and Visualization & Digital Storytelling ensure students gain in-demand expertise to leverage data for business decision-making and strategic planning.

Generative AI & AI Tools for Business Applications

This course introduces students to generative AI technologies and practical AI tools used to support business analysis, communication, and decision-making. Students learn how to effectively use AI systems to generate insights, automate tasks, analyze data, and enhance productivity across areas such as sales, strategy, and operations. Topics include the cost of inference, the role that tokens play in pricing and performance, and how choices around prompts, context, model selection and tool use affect scalability and responsible use. Emphasis is placed on developing practical skills, evaluating the quality and limitations of AI outputs, and applying generative AI responsibly in professional business contexts.

AI-Driven Decision-Making & Analytics

This course explores how artificial intelligence and advanced analytics can support data-driven decision-making in business organizations. Students learn how AI models generate predictions, identify patterns in large datasets, and inform strategic choices in areas such as marketing, operations, and financial planning. Emphasis is placed on interpreting AI-generated insights, evaluating model limitations, and applying analytical results responsibly to improve managerial decision-making.

Earn a Master's Degree or Certificate in Data Analytics

For business professionals looking to expand their knowledge in the field of data analytics, Stonehill also offers a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Marketing, both with specialization options in data analytics. The College also offers a five-course professional certificate in data analytics. These programs focus on analyzing and extracting data and understanding how organizations utilize data to strengthen their decision-making. 

If a student completes the Data Analytics Graduate Certificate and wishes to pursue their master's degree, these courses can be applied toward the degree.
