Graphic Design Major & Minor
The Graphic Design program at Stonehill incorporates theory with practical application, providing students with the foundation needed to become successful and thoughtful practitioners.
Professional Opportunities from Day One
Whether it’s working for an advertising agency, a book or magazine publisher, or within a corporate design department, our graphic design majors graduate with the foundation needed to succeed professionally.
Experiential Learning Includes On-Campus Pre-Professional Graphic Design Studio
In addition to coursework, students have the opportunity to work on real-world projects through InHouse Design, a student-run pre-professional graphic design studio. These projects give them an opportunity to build a professional body of work, as well as provide insight into the process of working independently or as a member of a team for real clients both on campus and at not-for-profits organizations in neighboring communities.
Students may also participate in graphic design-related internships, further building the bridge to professional practice. From Stonehill’s own Marketing Office to large NYC agencies, graphic design students may gain experiences that support future goals.
American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Stonehill Chapter
AIGA is a professional organization for design. Stonehill students are required to be a member for at least three semesters.
Career Resources for Students
Dedicated Faculty & State-of-the-Art Resources
In graphic design, students work closely with a faculty advisor who helps them develop an independent project or mentor them as they seek an internship suited to their skills and professional goals. With such guidance, the relationship between form and content comes alive on the page or screen as students develop concepts and articulate them using sophisticated software in our Mac lab.
