Course Overview

The 90’s was a time when new voices came to redefine filmmaking, while at the same time ultra budget films such as Jurassic Park, Independence Day, and Men In Black, would go on to set box office records. This course examines this critical decade in terms of artistic vision, business practices, the role of studios and independent producers, and the return of genres once thought long gone.

May be taken twice (COM majors and minors may count only one toward requirements).

Teaching Fellow of Communication
I earned my Ph.D. in Media and Communication Studies from Bowling Green State University. I have been teaching here at Stonehill as a member of the Communication Department since 2017. I specialize in New Media, Cinema Studies, Surveillance Studies and the American horror tradition. At Stonehill I’ve taught the following courses: Film History, Media Literacy, Mediated Communication, and special topics courses on Cinematic Apocalypses, Media Convergence, Independent Film and Altered Lifeforms in the Media.
